The New York Times reported on Wednesday that one of Google’s AI departments is utilising generative AI to create at least 21 different tools for life planning, teaching, and counselling.
According to prior reports from CNBC and the Times, Google’s DeepMind is responsible for the development of the tools and has established itself as the company’s “nimble, fast-paced” standard-bearer for AI projects.
After receiving life guidance from AI tools, users may suffer from “diminished health and well-being” and a “loss of agency,” according to a slide presentation allegedly delivered to executives by Google’s own AI safety experts in December, according to the Times.
