On Wednesday at its Made by Google event in New York City, Google unveiled two new Pixel phones and its newest Pixel smartwatch. The new Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro are Google’s newest attempts to take some of Apple’s iPhone market share.
Starting prices for the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro are respectively $699 and $999. Comparing that to the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro from the previous year, there has been a $100 price hike. Google’s hardware division does not generate a sizable amount of revenue for parent firm Alphabet, despite the Pixel brand having a tiny but growing market share. For instance, Google ads contributed $58.14 billion of the $74.6 billion in income Alphabet recorded for the second quarter. Google Cloud produced another $8 billion.
Starting on Wednesday, customers may order the Pixel 8 smartphones and the $349 Pixel Watch 2, which will be available in stores on October 12.

In comparison to last year’s versions, the new Pixel 8 and 8 Pro have rounded corners and a flatter display. The entry-level Pixel 8 features a better screen and refresh rates that are comparable to those of the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, so you can play games or move through websites more fluidly.
The new Tensor G3 chip from Google powers both the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro. The G3, Google’s own semiconductor, enables the firm to utilise its artificial intelligence technology.
