Giving a larger group of users the capacity to make and sell additional types of digital goods is how Roblox, the well-known kids gaming platform, hopes to increase revenue.
The business said on Friday that users of the top-tier premium plans for the Roblox app, which grant users a monthly allotment of the Robux virtual currency, will be able to sell their 3D goods to other users. To produce and sell 3D assets, such as virtual apparel, Roblox players had to apply to the company’s user-generated content (UGC) programme and receive approval. Previously, players could only create and sell 2D items like virtual clothing.
Roblox’s chief product officer, Manuel Bronstein, stated in an interview with CNBC that now that the marketplace is available to everyone, there will be more opportunities for innovation on the site. “We are aware that more users and engagement come together with greater creation,”
