Stocks fell on Friday, and Wall Street reported a lost week as a surge that had recently supported the broader market appeared to run out of steam.
To reach 33,727.43, the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 219.28 points, or 0.65%. The Nasdaq Composite ended the day at 13,492.52, while the S&P 500 fell 0.77% to 4,348.33.
Multiple-week winning streaks were broken by all three main averages. The S&P 500 had a 1.4% loss, capping a run of five straight weeks of gains. The Nasdaq experienced a 1.4% decline, breaking an eight-week winning streak, and had its worst week since March. The Dow was down roughly 1.7%, snapping a three-week streak of gains.
