What You Need To Know About ChatGPT, The A.I. Chatbot That Is Causing Tech Giants To Clash And The World To Talk

Describe ChatGPT. I requested an explanation from the popular artificial intelligence chatbot that has sparked debate in classrooms, boardrooms, and social media.

According to ChatGPT’s own description, the GPT (Generative Pretrained Transformer) language model is the foundation for this “AI-powered chatbot” created by OpenAI. It generates conversational responses to text inputs that are human-like using deep learning algorithms.

The tool is a hot topic in business. Management from a variety of industries, including banks, oil corporations, and even the industrial behemoth Caterpillar, have referenced it on earnings calls.

Additionally, it has generated worries about possible abuses. While hackers have started using ChatGPT to build harmful code, kids have used it in classrooms to construct whole essays.

So, what exactly is ChatGPT? Here is a brief guide covering all you need know about the well-known AI chatbot.

Describe ChatGPT.
Developed by San Francisco-based startup OpenAI, ChatGPT is an AI chatbot. Elon Musk and Sam Altman co-founded Open AI in 2015, and it is supported by well-known investors, most notably Microsoft.

It is one of several generative AI examples. These are tools that let users give written instructions to obtain fresh text that appears to have been created by a human being, as well as photographs and videos.

Examples from the past include Dall-E, an Open AI text-to-image software that attracted notice for its capacity to generate realistic, frequently ludicrous, images that correspond to people’s text descriptions.

Selfies have been transformed into famous self-portraits using Lensa, an app built on the open-source AI project Stable Diffusion, with influences ranging from sci-fi to anime.

In the case of ChatGPT, the service is a text-based tool that may respond to user requests with human-like responses, such as Shakespearean-style poetry or suggestions for what to do at a child’s birthday party.

What makes it so unique?
A large language model, or LLM, powers ChatGPT, allowing it to be designed to comprehend human language and produce responses based on big data sets.

The LLM of ChatGPT is known as GPT-3.5. The GPT-3 language model from Open AI has been upgraded.

GPT-3 is one of the biggest and most potent language processing AI models available today, with a massive 175 billion parameters.

With the help of the enormous amounts of data it is trained on, ChatGPT is able to deliver responses that are remarkably human-like.

According to Jeffrey Wong, global chief innovation officer at professional services company EY, “what’s fascinating is that the responses are more and more human-like, so what you’re seeing is stuff that we did not think computers could do previously,” he told CNBC.

The capacity of ChatGPT to record context from users’ earlier statements in a thread and use it to inform responses later in the conversation is another feature that sets it apart.

Why is it so well-liked?
The level of influence and virality that ChatGPT has is unmatched by any other generative AI application.

It was the buzz of the business world at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, last month. It has been the topic of many memes. The Ernie Bot created by Chinese internet firm Baidu is a similar product.

According to a tweet from Altman on December 5, 1 million people signed up for the chatbot in the five days following its release. Only two months after its inception, ChatGPT had amassed 100 million monthly active users, making it the fastest-growing consumer application in history by January, according to a UBS note released last week.
