Amidst Wall Street’s anticipation for the latest Federal Reserve decision on interest rates, the S&P 500 closed Tuesday close to its unchanged level.
To close at 4,924.97, the benchmark decreased by 0.06%. The Dow Jones Industrial Average ended at 38,467.31, its seventh record close of the year, up 133.86 points, or 0.35%. With a 0.76% decline, the Nasdaq Composite closed at 15,509.90.
Following the two-day policy meeting of the Federal Open Market Committee, which began on Tuesday, traders will be keeping an eye out for updates. Investors are instead left expecting a change in the policy statement that will finish off the meeting, as the fed funds futures market has priced in a 97% probability that the central bank will leave rates steady, according to the CME FedWatch tool.
