For the First Time Ever, the S&P 500 Closes Over 5,000 and Records its Fifth Consecutive Winning Week

Stocks experienced gains on Friday, following a revised inflation report for December that showed lower figures than originally stated. The S&P 500 closed above the significant 5,000 mark, driven by robust earnings and positive economic updates.

Closing at 5,026.61, the S&P 500 increased by 0.57%, while the Nasdaq Composite surged by 1.25% to finish at 15,990.66. Meanwhile, the Dow Jones Industrial Average declined by 54.64 points or 0.14%, settling at 38,671.69.

Throughout the week, the S&P 500 rose by 1.4% and the Nasdaq gained 2.3%, with the Dow remaining relatively unchanged. All three major indices marked their fifth consecutive week of gains and their 14th positive week out of the last 15.
