Stock futures remained quiet on Wednesday following a record-high closing for the S&P 500 on Wall Street. Dow Jones Industrial Average futures edged up by 7 points, representing a marginal increase of less than 0.1%. Similarly, the S&P 500 futures and Nasdaq-100 futures showed minimal movement.
The previous session witnessed a notable surge, with the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite both gaining over 1%, fueled by February’s U.S. inflation data aligning closely with expectations.
Gabriela Santos, global market strategist at JPMorgan Asset Management, remarked on “Closing Bell” that while it is unlikely the Federal Reserve will end the current economic cycle, any potential downturn may be triggered by unforeseen shocks rather than Federal Reserve actions. Santos believes that barring any unexpected events, the economy could potentially sustain its late-cycle phase for an extended period.
