After a robust week that saw the major averages reach new record highs, the S&P 500 hit new heights on Monday.
In contrast, the Nasdaq Composite increased by 0.3% and the broad market index by 0.2%.
Over the course of the session, both had reached new intraday highs.
There was a 0.1% increase of 27 points in the Dow Jones Industrial Average.
