S&P 500 futures fell 0.9%.
Nasdaq-100 futures declined 1.3%.
The White House stated that Trump and Xi agreed on the importance of keeping the Strait of Hormuz open.
However, Adam Crisafulli from Vital Knowledge described the headlines as underwhelming, citing limited positive developments such as Boeing orders.
