Tim Cook, the CEO of Apple, stated that the business is still debating whether it should continue to advertise on platform X after Elon Musk, the platform’s creator, was charged with anti-Semitism.
Cook stated as much in an interview with CBS’ “Sunday Morning” that aired on Sunday. “It’s something we continuously ask ourselves,” she added.
Cook continued by saying that while he thinks of X, formerly known as Twitter, as a “essential property” for dialogue, there are some things about it with which he disagrees, such how antisemitism is promoted there.
Simply put, he said, “There is no place for it.”
Cook’s remarks come as there are growing worries over antisemitism on X and Musk is allegedly planning to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The talks will centre on artificial intelligence, according to a statement by Musk.
Since Musk took charge in October, nonprofit organisations and independent researchers claim that hate speech and objectionable content have spread more widely on the network. The accusations have been refuted by Musk and X.
Musk vowed to sue the Anti-Defamation League earlier this month when the human rights organisation revealed that antisemitic posts on X had drastically increased while Musk has owned the company. Musk claimed that corporate sales were down 60% and blamed the ADL for the loss of advertising revenue.
