With its best first-quarter performance in five years coming to an end, the S&P 500 remained unchanged on Thursday.
As did the Dow Jones Industrial Average, the broad market index was marginally higher. Nothing was changing in the Nasdaq Composite’s trade.
The S&P 500 has gained around 10% for the quarter. A 13.1% rally in the first quarter of 2019 is expected to be its greatest gain since then.
With a 5.5% gain over that time, the Dow, which consists of 30 stocks, is on pace for its best first-quarter performance since 2021, when it fell 7.4%. So far this quarter, the Nasdaq has gained 9.3% on its own.
