Stock market futures showed a modest increase on Friday following the S&P 500’s breakthrough of the historic 5,000 mark in intra-day trading. All major indexes were on track for their fifth consecutive week of gains.
Dow Jones Industrial Average futures gained 120 points, or 0.3%, while S&P 500 futures and Nasdaq 100 futures also saw increases of 0.3% and 0.4% respectively. This week, the S&P has seen a rise of 0.8%, with the Dow and Nasdaq Composite also posting gains of 0.2% and 1.1% respectively.
The market rally has been fueled by a strong earnings season, favorable inflation data, and a robust economy, leading to a year-to-date increase of nearly 5% for the S&P 500. These factors are expected to contribute to another week of positive returns for stocks.
