The Dow Declines for the First Day of Losses in Nine as Consumers’ Inflation Expectations Rise

Ahead of important statistics that are expected later this week, traders were battling growing inflation concerns, which caused the Dow Jones Industrial Average to decline on Monday and end an eight-day gaining streak.

The Dow of 30 stocks closed at 39,431.51, down 81.33 points, or 0.21%. At 5,221.42, the S&P 500 finished 0.02% lower. With a 0.29% gain, the Nasdaq Composite closed at 16,388.24.

Inflation forecasts increased to 3.3% on a one-year basis. They increased their five-year forecast to 2.8%.
