The S&P 500 gained on Thursday, setting a fourth consecutive record close, as traders considered new data indicating that inflation pressures may be lessening.
The broad market index rose 0.23% to finish at 5,433.74, while the Nasdaq Composite rose 0.34% to 17,667.56. Thursday’s closing record for both the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq was their fourth consecutive.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average was the underperformer, down 65.11 points, or 0.17%, to 38,647.10.
The S&P 500 and Nasdaq reached new highs this week, supported by new data indicating hints of easing inflation pressures.
