The S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite gained Tuesday, spurred by a rebound in Nvidia shares following a steep drop the day before.
The S&P 500 rose 0.2%, while the Nasdaq rose 0.6%. The Dow Jones Industrial Average underperformed, falling 63 points, or 0.2%.
Nvidia shares increased by more than 3%. The stock fell more than 6% the previous session, its worst one-day slump since April 19 when it lost 10%.
The latest decline moved the AI darling deeper into correction territory, dropping 16% from an intraday peak established last week.
Other semiconductor companies under pressure on Monday were Super Micro Computer, Qualcomm, and Broadcom.
