Tuesday’s decline in U.S. equities placed the major averages on course to reverse the previous session’s gains as investors awaited remarks from the top Federal Reserve official.
By 0.1%, or 68 points, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell. Both the Nasdaq Composite and the S&P 500 declined by 0.4% and 0.3%, respectively.
Shares of Nvidia dropped by over 2%. Apple and Meta Platforms, two other significant IT companies, saw a minor decline in shares as well.
Wall Street is hoping that Fed Chair Jerome Powell will reveal details about the future actions of the US monetary authority by participating in a panel discussion in Portugal alongside other leaders of central banks.
