As investors moved out of the year’s top technological winners, like Nvidia, Microsoft, and Meta, the S&P 500 fell from a record high.
Investors shifted their focus towards small-cap stocks and housing-related companies after the CPI index dropped to its lowest level in over three years.
Earlier in the session, the S&P 500 touched a record, but then withdrew 0.6%.
Following its own record-breaking early in the trading day, the Nasdaq Composite saw a 1.4% decline. 43 points, or 0.1%, were added to the Dow Jones Industrial Average. Though rising 165% year over year, Nvidia had a nearly 4% decline.
