Investors began to welcome some stocks outside of the technological bull market leaders this week, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average surged on Friday thanks to advances in Home Depot and Caterpillar.
To close at 40,000.90, the Dow gained 247.15 points, or 0.62%. The 30-stock blue-chip index increased during the session to reach a new all-time high of 40,257.24. Since surpassing the round number milestone in late May, this was the first time it had been above 40,000.
With its 1.7% increase, Home Depot’s weekly gain now stands at 7.5%.
Throughout the day, Caterpillar added almost 1.4%. At 5,615.35, the S&P 500 closed with a 0.55% gain. At 18,398.45, the Nasdaq Composite had a gain of 0.63%.
