The S&P 500 closed at a new record high on Tuesday, closing above 7,600 for the first time, as investors monitored recent U.S.-Iran developments and movements in major tech stocks.
The broad index rose 0.13% to 7,609.78, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average increased 228.91 points, or 0.45%, to 51,307.79, reaching a new intraday high earlier in the session.
The Nasdaq Composite inched up 0.03% to 27,093.90.
Alphabet’s shares declined nearly 4% after announcing plans to raise $80 billion through stock sales to fund its artificial intelligence initiatives, including a $10 billion investment from Berkshire Hathaway.
