Dow Drops 400 Points as Oil Rises Before Fed Decision

Stocks declined on Wednesday as oil prices surged ahead of the Federal Reserve’s upcoming interest rate decision.

The Dow Jones fell 410 points, or 0.8%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite also edged lower.

Oil prices climbed further after President Donald Trump told a Fox News reporter that the U.S. will respond to Iran “hard” following recent attacks. West Texas Intermediate crude rose 6.9% to $89.88 a barrel.

This move comes after U.S. Central Command announced that Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps forces launched multiple ballistic missiles in an apparent surprise attack on U.S. forces in the Middle East though the missiles were successfully intercepted, Centcom confirmed.
