Morning Squawk, SpaceX’s Spending Boom, S&P 500 Hits New High, Chipotle Salmonella Concern, and More

Stock futures are on the rise this morning, following a record-setting session for the major indexes.

Here are five key points investors should note as the trading day begins:

1. SpaceX’s earnings debut
SpaceX reported impressive revenue growth in its first quarterly earnings, beating analysts’ second-quarter estimates on both revenue and profit. However, the company also reported very high capital expenditures, which caused concern among investors, leading to an 11% drop in the stock during after-hours trading.

2. New highs
The stock market had another strong day on Tuesday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average and the S&P 500 both reaching new all-time highs. The S&P 500 also closed above 7,700 for the first time.

3. Disney’s gains
Disney shares rose more than 3% before the market opened after the company reported quarterly earnings that exceeded expectations, although its revenue was slightly below forecasts.

4. P&G’s acquisition
Procter & Gamble is expanding its portfolio. CEO Shailesh Jejurikar announced to CNBC that the consumer goods giant will acquire supplement brand Thorne for $3.8 billion.

5. Jalapeño recall
Chipotle announced yesterday that it is temporarily removing jalapeños from its Minnesota locations due to a potential link to a salmonella outbreak.
