Wednesday’s Dow Closed More Than 470 Points Lower, Ending a Nine-Day Winning Streak

On Wednesday, the stock market experienced a decline as investors decided to take profits after a period of strong growth, resulting in a drop in the S&P 500 due to FedEx’s performance.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell by 475.92 points or 1.27% to reach 37,082.00. Similarly, the Nasdaq Composite decreased by 1.50% to 14,777.94. These two indexes concluded a nine-day upward trend, making this their worst session since October.

The S&P 500 also experienced a decline of 1.47% to reach 4,698.35, marking its most significant drop since September.

Keith Buchanan, senior portfolio manager at Globalt Investments, commented that the market had become overbought, leading to this natural pullback based on technical factors rather than fundamental ones.
