Tuesday’s S&P 500 Gains Offset Earlier Losses as Technology Improves

Tech shares in the S&P 500 helped the market rebound on Tuesday, mitigating earlier losses and signaling a potential turnaround after a challenging start to 2024. The overall market index experienced a 0.2% decline, though it had initially dropped by 0.7% at its lowest point of the day. The Dow Jones Industrial Average, initially down by 309.71 points, later recovered slightly to trade 201 points lower (0.5%). Similarly, the Nasdaq Composite bounced back from a 0.9% decrease and was currently up around 0.1%. Notably, Nvidia saw a notable increase of more than 3.5%, achieving a new all-time high. Amazon and Alphabet also saw gains of over 1%. Additionally, Juniper Networks experienced a significant surge of over 22% following news of a potential acquisition by Hewlett Packard Enterprise.
