As Investors Prepare for a Business Week Truncated by Holidays, S&P 500 Futures Decline

Stock futures for the S&P 500 edged lower on Tuesday following the market’s first losing week in over a month. S&P 500 futures decreased by 0.36%, while Nasdaq 100 futures fell by 0.6%. Dow Jones Industrial Average futures also declined, losing 65 points, or 0.17%.

This downward trend comes after a week of losses on Wall Street, driven by economic data that raised concerns about the Federal Reserve potentially delaying interest rate cuts this year. All three major indexes – the Nasdaq Composite, S&P 500, and Dow – ended their five-week winning streaks. The Nasdaq Composite experienced the largest drop, falling by more than 1.3%, while the S&P 500 slipped by about 0.4%. The Dow recorded the smallest decline, shedding approximately 0.1%.
