After a Record-Breaking Week, Stock Futures Have Not Moved Much

U.S. equity futures showed little movement on Monday following record highs in key stock benchmarks, with investors eagerly anticipating inflation data scheduled for release later this week.

Futures linked to the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 8 points, or 0.02%, while S&P 500 futures edged up 0.06%. Nasdaq-100 futures also climbed by 0.1%.

Amazon is set to join the 30-stock Dow on Monday, replacing Walgreens Boots Alliance. The Dow’s constituents are weighted based on stock price rather than market capitalization. The inclusion of the e-commerce giant will enhance the index’s exposure to the technology and consumer retail sectors.

As February approaches its final week, stocks are entering on a positive note after major indexes accomplished significant milestones and closed out winning weeks, buoyed by Nvidia’s strong earnings. The Dow concluded at a new record high, the S&P at one point breached the 5,100 threshold for the first time, and the Nasdaq Composite hit a 52-week peak in Friday’s trading session.
