Middle East tensions are rising as worries of an all-out conflict between the two bitter enemies are heightened by Israel’s government’s vow to respond harshly to Iran’s unprecedented missile fire into Tel Aviv.
Hassan Nasrallah, the leader of Hezbollah, was killed by Israel one week ago, and Tehran responded by firing some 180 ballistic missiles at multiple locations throughout Israel on Tuesday night.
Most of the attacks were intercepted and there were no injuries as a result of the offensive.
The incident, however, was a watershed in a sequence of more aggressive tit-for-tat actions, as Tehran seemed determined to restore deterrence and show Israel that it could — and would — attack whenever it pleased.
