With a spike in harassment that began during the Covid epidemic, Doximity, the medical website utilised by over 80% of American doctors, is now attempting to safeguard its millions of subscribers.
The 13-year-old business has unveiled DocDefender, a free service that removes a doctor’s contact details off the internet. The system instantly starts the eradication procedure after scanning dozens of the most popular websites that could include a doctor’s information.
Health care professionals may handle paperwork, obtain referrals, conduct telemedicine appointments with patients, stay up to date on medical news, and more via Doximity’s platform, which was dubbed “LinkedIn for doctors” for years. Health care workers have seen higher levels of harassment and violence since the Covid pandemic began in 2020, partly because of the politicisation of mask wearing, social distancing, and vaccination laws.
The goal of the new function, according to Doximity, is to provide doctors with peace of mind so they may feel safer in both their personal and professional life and concentrate on giving better treatment.
Users requested the option, according to Doximity’s chief physician experience officer, Dr. Amit Phull. To assist Doximity in developing fresh concepts for its platform, more than 200 physicians travelled to the company’s San Francisco offices in March. There was a thunderous round of applause for the executives who introduced DocDefender.
In an interview with CNBC, Phull stated, “We’ve received positive comments before.” “We had never done that before.”
