Amidst a volatile September, Wall Street was trying to regain composure, and on Tuesday the S&P 500 posted its second winning session.
With a 0.45% increase, the Nasdaq Composite closed at 17,025.88, while the broad market index ended at 5,495.52.
A decrease of 92.63 points, or 0.23%, saw the Dow Jones Industrial Average close to 40,736.96. The tech-heavy Nasdaq and the S&P 500 also received a boost from Nvidia’s 1.5% closing increase.
Also higher were AMD and Microsoft. With the Technology Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLK) losing over 7% so far this quarter, tech companies have not been doing well lately.
High-flying IT names are being dumped by investors as their concerns about the state of the economy intensify.
