Elon Musk has filed a lawsuit threatening to revoke his $97.4 billion offer for OpenAI’s non-profit division if the company that makes ChatGPT halts its transition to a for-profit business.
Which was filed with the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California on Wednesday, Musk will withdraw the bid if the Board of OpenAI, Inc. is willing to uphold the charity’s objective and stipulate to remove the “for sale” sign from its assets by stopping its conversion.
It further stated that the charity must be paid the amount that an arms-length buyer would pay for its assets.
Musk, his artificial intelligence startup xAI, and a group of investors filed an offer on Monday to pay $97.4 billion to acquire OpenAI’s nonprofit division.
Musk accused the business and its CEO, Sam Altman, of straying from its initial goal of creating AI for the greater good in favour of making money.
