Shares of Salesforce surged over 20% on Thursday following a strong second-quarter earnings report and the announcement of a broadened partnership with AI startup Anthropic.
This marked one of Salesforce’s best trading days ever, second only to August 2020 when the stock soared approximately 26%.
CEO Mark Benioff and Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei introduced “Claudeforce,” a new plugin designed to help sales teams access vital data via the Claude chatbot from Anthropic’s Frontier Lab.
The AI partnership boosted investor confidence, lifting shares of other software giants such as Adobe, Palantir, ServiceNow, Autodesk, and Figma, all of which saw gains. The iShares Expanded Tech-Software ETF rose around 5%.
