Stock futures rose on Monday to start the holiday shortened trading week following President Donald Trump’s announcement that an agreement has been reached to end the conflict between the U.S. and Iran.
Futures linked to the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 527 points, or 1%. S&P 500 futures increased by 1.4%, while Nasdaq 100 futures surged 2.2%.
Global markets also saw gains. Japan’s Nikkei 225 reached a record intraday high, closing the day 5% higher.
South Korea’s Kospi climbed 5.2%, and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index rose 0.5%. In Europe, the Stoxx 600 advanced 0.6%.
Shares of SpaceX jumped 5% after soaring 19% in their debut on the public market last Friday.
