S&P 500 Slightly Declines but Set for Third Consecutive Weekly Gain

The S&P 500 declined on Friday following a record-breaking session, but it remains on track for its third consecutive weekly gain.

The broad market index fell 0.2%, while the Nasdaq Composite dropped 0.4%. The Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 80 points, or 0.2%.

Despite Friday’s dip, the S&P 500 is set for its third straight weekly increase, up 0.3% for the week. The Nasdaq is on pace for a modest 0.1% decline, and the Dow has decreased 0.6% so far this week.

This week has been historic for the S&P 500, with the index surpassing 7,800 for the first time on Thursday after reaching an intraday high of 7,816.70.

The index also closed at a record level the previous day.
