Following a turbulent week in OpenAI’s executive leadership, the company’s finance chief, Sarah Friar, held a meeting with investors on Friday to highlight recent growth.
She emphasized that the company’s enterprise segment now generates more revenue than its consumer business, which is primarily driven by ChatGPT.
She explained that earlier this year, the revenue split was about 60% consumer and 40% enterprise.
However, enterprise has outpaced expectations and has now surpassed the consumer side. The majority of OpenAI’s revenue is now coming from enterprise services.
This shift positions OpenAI ahead of its previous forecasts.
Earlier this year, the company anticipated that its enterprise and consumer businesses would reach parity by the end of 2026. Currently, OpenAI’s annualized revenue run rate has reached $40 billion.
