The broader market index closed down by 0.2%, with the Nasdaq Composite falling slightly more by 0.3%.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average dipped by 107 points, or 0.2%.
For the week, the S&P 500 rose by 0.4%.
The Nasdaq also recorded its third straight weekly increase, finishing the week up by 0.1%.
Meanwhile, the Dow declined by 0.6% for the week.
