How to Schedule Your Thanksgiving Departure Using Google Maps

In an effort to reduce stress and travel time, Google Maps is releasing new features and providing advice on when to travel during the holidays, according to blog entries published on Wednesday morning.

You’ll get a better notion of when to plan to be on the road in addition to Google Maps’ real-time route estimates thanks to the travel guidance, which is based on data from the previous Thanksgiving season.

According to the company’s blog post, the new improvements will begin to roll out in the coming weeks.

Google Maps is used by over a billion people each month, and the company has worked hard to improve the service to make travelling easier. Google Maps has updated twice in the past month, with these holiday-themed capabilities. Immersive View, which lets you realistically navigate a metropolis, is one of the enhanced capabilities that the business unveiled in late October.

Travellers planning to travel for Thanksgiving should try to avoid driving on Tuesday and Wednesday between 4 and 5 p.m. (all local time) and instead attempt to drive on Monday or Tuesday after 8 p.m. (all local time). Travelling before midday or after 4 p.m. on Thanksgiving is your best option if you intend to drive.

The least crowded times to travel for Black Friday shopping are before noon or after 7 p.m., customers should be aware of. The hour between three and four p.m. is the worst of the day.

The best time to depart if you are spending the weekend returning home is around 7 or 8 p.m. local time. However, on Saturday and Sunday, the deadliest hours are from 3 to 4 p.m.
