As the Final Week of 2023 Begins, Stock Futures are Slightly Higher

U.S. stock futures saw a slight increase on Tuesday, marking the start of the final week of the year, as traders aimed to finish 2023 on a positive note.

Futures linked to the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose by 43 points, or 0.1%. S&P 500 futures experienced a 0.1% gain, while Nasdaq-100 futures climbed by 0.2%.

Since U.S. markets were closed on Monday for the Christmas holiday, Wall Street enters this shortened week with upward momentum. The S&P 500 achieved its eighth consecutive weekly gain last week, which is the longest winning streak since 2017. Similarly, the Dow and Nasdaq Composite also recorded eight weeks of consecutive gains.

Furthermore, the S&P 500 is currently approaching record levels as it closed in at just a 0.9% difference from its all-time high of 4,796.56 achieved in January 2022. Additionally, it is only 1.3% away from its intraday record.
