Stocks Plunge for Third Consecutive Day as Bond Yields Soar: Dow Ends Lower on Wednesday

On Wednesday, stock market experienced a decline as Treasury yields rose in response to the release of stronger-than-expected U.S. economic data.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average finished the day at 37,266.67, down 94.45 points or 0.25%. This marked the third consecutive day of losses for the 30-stock index. The S&P 500 closed at 4,739.21, registering a slide of 0.56%, while the Nasdaq Composite ended the session at 14,855.62 with a 0.59% loss.

Following the publication of mixed quarterly results, Charles Schwab saw a decline of 1.3%. Leading the Dow’s losses were Walgreens and Caterpillar, both of which dropped around 3%. On the other hand, Boeing experienced a gain of 1.3%, positioning it as one of the major gainers in the Dow despite its recent significant losses.
