Google CEO Sundar Pichai has notified employees that the company will be implementing further job cuts this year as it redirects its investment focus towards artificial intelligence. In a memo titled “2024 priorities and the year ahead,” which was received by staff members on Wednesday evening and acquired by CNBC, Pichai stated that they have ambitious objectives and are committed to investing in major priorities in the coming year.
Pichai also mentioned that the company’s leadership will be announcing its AI goals for the year and releasing its 2024 OKRs (objectives and key results) shortly. He acknowledged that tough decisions need to be made to accommodate this investment, including the elimination of certain roles and simplifying execution processes to enhance efficiency and speed.
