A Little Increase in S&P 500 Futures Precedes New U.S. Inflation Data

Stock futures showed mixed movement on Friday morning as investors look to maintain the strong momentum of the broader market and await the release of fresh U.S. inflation figures.

S&P futures rose by 0.2%, while Nasdaq-100 futures saw a 0.6% increase. Conversely, Dow Jones Industrial Average futures experienced a slight decline of 41 points, or 0.1%.

The upcoming release of the producer price index data for January at 8:30 a.m. ET is anticipated by economists surveyed by Dow Jones to show a gain of 0.1%. In addition, housing starts and building permits figures are also scheduled for release.

Throughout the week, investors have been analyzing the trajectory of the U.S. economy, especially following the release of this week’s higher-than-expected consumer price index data and a significant drop in January retail sales, raising concerns about potential weakness in consumer spending.
