After Heathrow Airport Restarted, European Markets Opened Higher, with IAG, the Owner of British Airways, Up 1%

European markets opened higher on Monday, boosted by U.S. President Donald Trump’s comments suggesting flexibility on tariffs.

The pan-European Stoxx 600 rose by 0.5%, with Germany’s DAX increasing by 1.05%, France’s CAC by 0.65%, and the U.K.’s FTSE 100 by 0.49%.

Traders are watching for preliminary purchasing managers’ index data from the U.K., France, Germany, and the eurozone to assess business activity in manufacturing and services.

The travel and leisure sector gained 0.8% after Heathrow Airport reopened following a recent power outage, with British Airways’ parent company IAG up by 1%.

In Asia-Pacific, markets were mostly higher as investors anticipate Trump’s upcoming tariff deadline. U.S. stock futures also pointed to further gains for equities.
