As the Dow Jones Industrial Average finished at a new high, stock futures saw minimal movement on Tuesday as a decline in technology names put pressure on the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite.
Contracts linked to the Dow Jones Industrial Average saw a little decline. Futures on the Nasdaq-100 increased by 0.2%, while those on the S&P 500 increased by 0.1%.
With new highs both during the day and after closing, the Dow on Monday defied the overall market.
Over the past year, investors may have been shifting away from one of the main drivers of the market, as evidenced by a fall in tech equities and a rise in less popular sectors like energy.
