London — As markets tried to recover from Monday’s market meltdown, European stocks moved marginally higher by Tuesday midday in London.
The European Stoxx 600 closed at 11:54 a.m. London time, up 0.17%. The Stoxx 600 opened higher on a day when markets were erratic; nevertheless, by mid-morning, it had dipped below zero and then recovered some of its losses.
The last mix was between regional bourses and sectors. Tuesday’s gains for banks and tech companies, which were among the most severely damaged by Monday’s severe market sell-off, saw them close at 0.1% and 1.16% higher, respectively. Monday saw a 3.5% decline in the Stoxx 600 index.
