Tim Cook, the CEO of Apple, supported gamers at an event while on a surprise trip to China, highlighting the market’s significance to the iPhone juggernaut at a time when it is facing increasing difficulties.
To play “Honour of Kings,” a game created by TiMi Studio, a subsidiary of Chinese internet giant Tencent, players gathered at an Apple store in Chengdu in southwest China.
Cook said in a post on the Chinese social media platform Weibo that the “action-packed Honour of Kings” game was born in Chengdu and has now become a worldwide sensation on the App Store.
Cook has published a video of himself supporting gamers at the competition. One of the most popular mobile games in China and a significant source of income for Apple’s App Store there is Honour of Kings.
A little less than a month after the release of the iPhone 15, the company’s flagship smartphone, to what appeared to be a lukewarm welcome, the Apple CEO visited the company’s third-largest market. At the same time, a battered Huawei is attempting to make a comeback in the mobile industry.
