The Nasdaq Composite and S&P 500 both increased on Monday as Wall Street partially recovered from last week’s losses thanks to robust gains in the technology sector.
The tech-heavy Nasdaq increased by 0.6% while the broader market index increased by 0.1%. The Dow Jones Industrial Average, however, started to decline and lost 180 points, or about 0.5%.
With a 1.2% increase, the technology sector led the S&P 500. Following the cybersecurity company’s Friday better-than-expected earnings release, Palo Alto Networks topped the gains with a 15% increase. The stock also had a good chance of posting its highest one-day gain in over two years.
