Before Friday’s Stock Market Opening, Here Are Five Things to Know

Investors should be aware of the following five essential points before beginning the trading day:

1. A four-way On Thursday, the S&P 500 gained 0.75%, marking its fourth consecutive day of gains. The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 235.06 points, or 0.58%, but the Nasdaq Composite performed even better, jumping 1% as investors snatched up tech companies.

2. Strike by Boeing employees The Boeing workforce of over 30,000 is on strike. A proposed contract agreement between the aircraft manufacturer and the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers was decisively rejected by the workforce, causing them to leave their jobs on Friday.

3. Slides made with Adobe Wall Street was not prepared for the sales and earnings figures that Adobe revealed for the third quarter. However, as the company’s fourth-quarter outlook came in below expectations, shares of the company fell almost 8% in premarket trade on Friday.

4. Vaccinations against HIV In a significant trial, the drugmaker Gilead’s twice-yearly injection lenacapavir reduced HIV infections by 96%,  Moreover, the business reported that 99.9% of participants did not contract HIV after receiving the shot.

5. Giant bag? Although New York Fashion Week has concluded, two significant businesses are hosting an alternative type of event in the city this week. In a Manhattan courtroom, owners of Michael Kors and Coach, Tapestry and Capri, respectively, are arguing for and against the approval of their $8.5 billion merger.
