The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose Monday as investors unloaded large technology stocks in favour of banking and energy.
The Dow rose 260.88 points, or 0.67%, to finish at 39,411.21. The S&P 500 dropped 0.31% to 5,447.87, while the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite fell 1.09% to 17,496.82. The Nasdaq saw its worst day since April.
The largest decreasing S&P 500 sector for the day was information technology, which fell by more than 2%.
Meanwhile, energy rose 2.7%, while financials and utilities gained about 1%. JPMorgan Chase rose 1.3%, while Goldman Sachs and Chevron both rose more than 2%.
