The latest set of economic and earnings statistics were being analysed by investors as stocks fell for a third session on Thursday and rates spiked to new highs.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average decreased 290.91 points, or 0.84%, to finish at 34,474.83 on the closing bell. The 30-stock Dow closed below the 50-day moving average for the first time since June 1—possibly a red flag that a downturn is beginning.
The S&P 500 dropped and finished the session at 4,370.36, down 0.77%. In order to reach 13,316.93, the Nasdaq Composite fell 1.17%.
