Dow Drops on Friday, but it is Still on Track for its Seventh Consecutive Week of Gains

Stock market showed little movement on Friday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average aiming to build on its impressive gains this week, reaching new record highs.

During Friday’s trading session, the Dow dipped 71 points, equivalent to a 0.2% decline. The S&P 500 also experienced a slight decrease of 0.2%, while the Nasdaq Composite saw a modest increase of 0.3%.

This positive momentum has propelled the major indexes toward their seventh consecutive week of gains. As of Thursday, the Dow has climbed 2.8% for the week, the S&P 500 has increased by 2.5%, and the Nasdaq Composite has risen by 2.5%. Notably, this marks the S&P 500’s longest winning streak since 2017 and the Dow’s longest winning streak since 2019.

Furthermore, there are indications that the S&P 500 may soon reach its own all-time high, as it currently sits just under 1.6% away from a record close achieved in January 2022. Similarly, the Nasdaq Composite is approximately 8% away from its highest-ever close and about 9% below its previous all-time intraday high.
