Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average remained almost flat Friday, after the blue-chip average temporarily surpassed the critical 40,000 milestone for the first time in the previous session.
Futures for the 30-stock index remained unchanged, as did S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100 futures. While the three major averages fell slightly, market participants were upbeat.
The Dow rose to an intraday high of 40,051.05, over the psychologically significant 40,000 barrier, before falling 0.1% to conclude the day.
